TIGER PRIDE LINK CREW’S FRESHMAN SURVIVAL GUIDE

  1. Get involved! Find something you like to do and do it. Do not limit yourself.
  2. Stay true to yourself. Stay focused on what is best for you.
  3. In the end, family and academics mean more than relationships and friends.
  4. You are never alone.
  5. Take each day as it comes.  Be in the moment.
  6. Step out of your comfort zone. Go to activities and events.  Have fun!
  7. Keep your health a top priority.  Relaxing is part of that priority.
  8. Do not confine yourself to one group of people.
  9. Anticipate that your friends could change over four years of high school.
  10. Pay attention during orientation to learn the names of hallways, teachers, and the room-numbering system.
  11. Ask for help if you need it, and it is smart to ask questions in class.
  12. Be kind to everyone. Do not judge others.
  13. Challenge yourself.
  14. Drama is the name of a high school course, not a way of life.
  15. Look for balance.  Too many hard classes in one semester can be too stressful.
  16. Find at least one person whom with you can share your feelings and anxieties.
  17. You do not have to know who you are yet, but you should know who you are not.
  18. Do not procrastinate. Be in class and stay up with coursework—falling behind hurts.
  19. However, one bad grade is not the end of the world.
  20. Concurrent Enrollment is easier than you think and well worth the effort.
  21. Upperclassmen are not scary.
  22. High school is the first step in your journey, not the last.
